About Dr. Brignall

Evidence-based. Values-aligned.

Dr. Brignall has over 25 years of patient care experience and has extensive training in both alternative and conventional medicine approaches. He also has decades of teaching and research experience and is considered a leader in the alternative medicine community. He was among the first in his field to adopt and advocate for evidence-based practice and the adoption of community standards of care. He is a believer in a less-is-more approach to medication and supplement prescribing and in aligning treatment options with patient values and beliefs.

He is one of the most published naturopathic doctors in the US, and was a lead author on the first ND-led article in the prestigious Cochrane Consortium. He helped lead the COVID-19 public health response in Pierce County, including helping to prevent nursing home outbreaks, leading mass vaccination clinics, and public and provider outreach communications. He has been a popular speaker at local conferences, and has been a critical leader in the development of ethical standards in the alternative medicine space.

In his spare time, Dr. Brignall plays jazz guitar and builds a ridiculously large collection of vinyl LPs. He is excited to open a new clinic in his home community of West Seattle.

Dr. Brignall has extra training and experience in providing primary care to people who are either currently undergoing cancer therapy or have done so in the past. If this is you, please make sure to alert the office when you make an appointment so we can order your oncology records before your first visit.

Dr. Brignall and the other providers at West Seattle Natural Medicine offer primary care to all populations, including people with autism, people of color, LGBTQ+ and non-binary individuals, and people who have lost trust in the larger health care system. Dr. Brignall has training in gender-affirming care, and does offer hormone therapy for transgender and gender non-binary individuals.

West Seattle Natural Medicine has been a part of the West Seattle community for three decades, and has an excellent network of partnerships with specialist care when we need to refer out to other experts.
